- Unity of Objectives
organisation is structured well if individuals can contribute to the enterprise’s objectives - Organizational Efficiency
org is efficient if the structure allows for minimum consequences or costs to effect the objectives - Specialization
the whole work should be divided amongst subordinates on the basis of qualifications, abilities and skills. - Span of Management
there’s a limit to the number of people one person can manage - Scalar Chain
same as before, continuous line of superiors through whom information/ commands should be relayed - Unity of Command
exact same as Henri Fayol’s - Delegation
authority must be delegated as far down the chain as possible - Parity of authority and responsibility
similar to Fayol but as a rule not just an observation - Flexibility
the org’s structure needs to be simple to understand but also flexible. - Functional Definition
